Second Stimulus Payment

We recommend that you visit the Updated FAQs on IRS.gov. Among others, it addresses questions related to direct deposit payments sent erroneously to an account that is closed, inactive or a temporary account.  


The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has begun delivering the second round of stimulus payments to eligible recipients. Most recipients have received their payment automatically as a direct deposit to their bank account on January 4th. Some will receive a paper check or debit card by mail over the course of the next few weeks. 

Will I be receiving a payment?

You can check the status of the first and second stimulus check by using the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website. The tool will tell you if, when, and how you will be receiving the second payment.

Has the stimulus payment been deposited to my WSB account?

We invite you to use the WSB Mobile Banking app on your smartphone and WSB Online on our website to check if your payment has been deposited. You can also set up a deposit alert to receive a notification when the payment has been deposited.

After you receive your payment, the IRS will send you a letter confirming the amount that was deposited. 

If I’m eligible, what amount should I receive?

Generally, up to $600 will be sent to singles and up to $1,200 to married couples filing a joint return. In addition, those with qualifying children will also receive up to $600 for each qualifying child.

Appointment-Only Lobby Service and Extended Drive-Up Service Hours

After careful evaluation of local conditions related to COVID-19, in order to best protect and serve our customers and staff, effective Monday, December 7th, all Watertown Savings Bank branch lobby services and lending services will be available by appointment only until further notice. All WSB drive-up locations will remain open. Drive-up service hours at our Church Street and Warrendale locations have been extended until 6pm Monday thru Friday.

To make an appointment for lobby teller services or non-teller services, please call Customer Support at 617-928-9000. 

You can always work with us from the safety of your home by using the WSB Mobile Banking app and WSB Online.

  • Requiring everyone to wear a face covering. Please note that for identification purposes you might be asked to briefly remove your face covering while maintaining a safe distance.
  • Placing floor signage to help customers practice 6 feet social distancing.
  • Limiting the number of individuals in the branch lobbies.
  • Increasing daily cleaning and sanitization.
  • Installing glass barriers at the teller windows and appointment desks.
  • Requiring any employee that exhibits COVID-19 symptoms to not report to work.
  • Continuing our “no handshakes” policy.

Visit any drive-up window to carry out your account transactions from the comfort of your car. Drive-up windows are available at the Church Street branch, Market Basket branch, Warrendale branch, Waltham Center branch, Arlington branch, and Lexington branch.

Re-Opening of WSB Main Office and Bigelow Branch Teller Services

Our customers’ and employees’ health remains our top priority as we gradually reopen our branch teller services.
Starting on Monday, June 15th, the WSB Main Office (60 Main Street, Watertown) and our Bigelow Branch (10 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown) will be open for Teller services and by appointment for other banking services. Drive-up services remain open at 6 other WSB locations.

Branch Teller Services Hours:  Monday thru Friday: 8:30am to 4:00pm and Saturday: 8:30am to 12:30pm.

As our state and towns announce the mandatory safety standards, we would like to share an update on the steps we are taking to ensure you feel safe and comfortable when banking with us. Updates to our branch lobbies include:

  • Requiring employees and customers to wear face masks

During these unprecedented times caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19), many are facing various challenges and dealing with upended daily routines. We want to reassure you that we are here for you. We care about your financial wellbeing and want to highlight the enhanced services available to you.

Increased Mobile Deposit Limits

For your convenience, we have recently increased your mobile deposit limits (per check and monthly total). Once a check is deposited, you will see your available mobile deposit limits as well as receive an email confirmation. We also continue to have an extended mobile deposit cut-off time of 8pm ET each business day.

Available Daily Limits on your WSB Debit Card  

Your WSB debit card can work for you in many ways: 
•    ATM withdrawal limit is $500 
•    If you use a PIN for a purchase, the limit is $1,000
•    If you sign for a purchase, the limit is $2,500


For World debit cardholders:
•    ATM withdrawal limit is $1,000
•    If you use a PIN for a purchase, the limit is $2,000
•    If you sign for a purchase, the limit is $5,000

Mobile Wallet: A Safe and Secure Way to Make Payments

We encourage you to add your WSB debit card to your smartphone’s mobile wallet. During the coronavirus outbreak we are constantly reminded to limit touching public surfaces. Using your mobile wallet will allow you to hold your phone to the payment terminal without touching it.

In an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Governor Baker called for residents to stay home and for ‘essential services only’ to stay open. We want to reassure you that we are here for you and our drive-up window locations will remain open regular hours as banks are considered an ‘essential service’. We would also like to strongly suggest that whenever possible you use WSB Online on our homepage and the WSB Mobile Banking app on your smartphone. With these digital tools you’ll be able to access your accounts, make transfers, deposit checks, pay bills, and more—all from your home or virtually anywhere.

This is a brief note to express my thanks and gratitude to you. 

Yesterday, virtually overnight, we had to reluctantly change the way we have interacted with you for the past 150 years. And yet, you showed us patience, understanding, and support during these unprecedented times. For that we are very grateful.

All drive-up services will remain open for bank transactions. If you use our drive-up services, you will notice that we are taking extra precautions—such as having our team wear protective gloves—to ensure your and our employees’ safety. While prudent, this makes certain transactions, like counting money, somewhat harder and some transactions may take longer. We appreciate your patience under these circumstances. Please see below a list of our drive-up locations.

We fully recognize that most, but not all, banking services can be conducted via the drive-up locations. We are working diligently to provide safe alternatives for these services. There is an enormous amount of information regarding the Coronavirus. As your neighbor and as your Bank, I simply and directly want to assure you that we continue to do our part to ensure the health and safety of customers and employees and we remain committed to providing you with outstanding customer service.

Sadly, situations like this create opportunities for even more scams than usual. Remember WSB will never request personal information or account information through social media or email. Similarly, this email contains no links. WSB will never send emails containing direct links to your WSB accounts or any WSB service.

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we would like to ask customers who have recently traveled internationally or feel unwell to please use Online and Mobile Banking services.
